<span> A thesis statement is what you're trying to prove with your paper. That means you are trying to prove it. It can be both factual if you're attempting to write a research paper or an opinion with solid reasons to back it up. When writing a thesis you don't want to write it about something obvious that someone could easily pick up themselves. You want to tell the reader something they didn't know before or something that makes them think.  </span>
