It also restricted foreigners' participation in the colonial trade. In this was, the acts made it more difficult for the colonists to trade goods directly with foreign countries. The acts resulted in the colonists supplying raw materials to Britain, and Britain selling manufactured goods to the colonies. The objective was to keep all trade benefits within the Empire.
