We can easily find this using equations.  what do we know?

X + Y = 20  and
-(X - Y = 14)        subtract the two equations..

X + Y = 20
-X + y = -14

2Y = 6
Y = 3        (our first number)  (put this into an original equation and solve)

X + Y = 20
X + 3 = 20    subtract 3 from both sides
X = 17

gives us our answer ....... 3 and 17

V125BC [204]

Answer:

89

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

During a promotional weekend, a state fair gives a free admission to every 179th person that enters the fair.

No of people attending the fair on Saturday is 8,633 amd No of people attending the fair on Sunday is 7,400.

We need to find the no of people that received a free admission over the two days.

Dividing 8,633 by 179 gives 48 as quotient and 41 as remainder. It means on Saturday 48 people entered for free.

Dividing 7,400 by 179 gives 41 as quotient and 61 as remainder. It means on Sunday 41 people entered for free.

Total no of people,

T = 48 + 41

T = 89

Hence, there are 89 people for free entries.

irina1246 [14]

Answer:

1) The store selling for 1.1 per 3 lbs

2) $6.24

Step-by-step explanation:

1)

1.1/3 = 0.37

0.78/2 = 0.39

0.37 is cheaper so it's a better deal

2)

\frac{0.78}{3} =\frac{x}{24} \\\\3x=18.72\\x=6.24

Divide 30 in the ratio of 2 : 4

60 because 2:4 is 1/2, and when you divide by a fraction, you multiply by the reciprocal (2/1 instead of 1/2) which would be 60 in this case.
