One of the effects of the popularity of suburbia in 1950 was the prominence given to<span> conformity which led to some negative effects on family organisation and minorities.
Many white women that had their family in the suburbs began to be "enclosed" at home while men were out working because of how far the cities were and the lack of transportation - they were restrained to the role of housewife.
It was also a time of negative effects over the minorities because most African Americans and Asian Americans were prevented from living in suburban neighbourhoods as they were mainly inhabited by white families that didn't want such minorities around.</span>
