In the United States, gas prices may increase due to a rise in price of crude oil because of a conflict with a major oil producing country. The price per gallon of crude oil tends to increase, which directly impacts the price of gas at the pump.

An exception is Washington DC, which always has the same number of electors as that of the state that has the least population of people in US.
