A huge part of it had to deal with the way that the French government dealt with debt.
<span>Only their third estate, primarily poor merchants and peasants, paid any taxes. The French largely funded the American Revolution because of their long-standing animosity with Great Britain. However, the debt they incurred was only slowly paid off because the people they were taxing had very little money. The country fell into an economic crisis and resentment began to build against the first and second estates--the weathly, title-holder, landed gentry and clergy. Thus the revolution. </span>
<span>A good comparison is Great Britain post-America Revolution, who taxed their citizens more fairly and avoided revolution by not throwing most of their citizens into the desperate straits of poverty.</span>

All I know is part A to the question :The geography of India greatly influenced the location of early settlements on the subcontinent. Both the Indus and the Ganges rivers carried rich silt from the mountains to the plains. When the rivers flooded, the silt spread over the plains and made the soil in the river valleys fertile for farming.

Lilit [14]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The question is incomplete. Indeed, here we do not have a question, just a statement. After the statement, the full question must say:<em> "Decide if the situation jeopardizes the government's legitimacy."</em>

What is the situation? The statement above-mentioned.

So the situation is this:

Three top military generals overthrow the country's government. The generals are very popular with the citizens, who cheer by the thousands in streets across the country.

Under this situation, the legitimacy is not jeopardized because it was the people who supported the generals to overthrow the country's government. So we can say that the generals are legit because they received the support of the people and that is why they succeeded. The people believe in them.

Let's remember that in politics, the concept of legitimacy means that the people think that their ruler is the right one, the capable one, and has the support of the citizens.

The other three important concepts of a solid government are Power, Authority, and Sovereignty.
