Answer:

The graph of the line represented by the table will not intersect the graph y= 4x + 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 4x + 5

Let's take the first point of the graph x = -1, y = -1

If the point (-1, -1) passes through y = 4x + 5 then they intercept at that point

y = -1   x = -1  then -1 = 4(-1) + 5

-1 = -4 + 5

-1 = 1 does not satisfy the equation that means the two lines do not intercept at (-1,-1)

Let's take the second  point of the graph x = 0, y = 3

If the point (0, 3) passes through y = 4x + 5 then they intercept at that point

y = 3   x = 0  then 3 = 4(0) + 5

3 = 5  does not satisfy the equation that means the two lines do not intercept at (0,3).

Let's take the Third point of the graph x = 1, y = 7

If the point (1,7) passes through y = 4x + 5 then they intercept at that point

y = 7  x = 1 then 7 = 4(1) + 5

7 = 4 + 5

7 = 9 does not satisfy the equation that means the two lines do not intercept at (1,7)

Let's take the last point of the graph x = 2, y = 11

If the point (2,11) passes through y = 4x + 5 then they intercept at that point

y = 11   x = 2  then 11 = 4(2) + 5

11 = 8 + 5

11 = 13 does not satisfy the equation that means the two lines do not intercept at (2,11).

So the graph of the line represented by the table will not intersect the graph y= 4x + 5.

In ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES, the chance of winning a car is 1 in 1,000. What percent of tickets to ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKE
Yuri [45]

Answer:

0.1% of tickets to ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES win a car

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :The chance of winning a car is 1 in 1,000.

To Find : What percent of tickets to ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES win a car?

Solution:

The chance of winning a car is 1 in 1,000.

The percent of tickets to ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES win a car:

=\frac{1}{1000} \times 100

=\frac{1}{10}

=0.1\%

Hence 0.1% of tickets to ACME PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES win a car.

Use the identity (x+y)(x2−xy+y2)=x3+y3 to find the sum of two numbers if the product of the numbers is 28, the sum of the square
fgiga [73]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1) f(x) = x+y , xy = 49 --> f(x) = x+49/x

f '(x) = 1-49/x2 , x = ±√49 , choose x = +7

y = 49/x = 7

smaller = 7

larger = 7

2) Vertical Distance is difference between the two functions

V(x) = x+56 - x2, V '(x) = 1 -2x --> x = 1/2 --> V(1/2) = 56.25 <---Max Vertical distance

Boundary at -7 and 8 are less

3) I googled the equation, it is really y(n) = kn/(49+n2)

y '(n) = (k(49+n2) - 2kn2)/(49+n2) , Setting to zero, k(49+n2) -2kn2 = 0 , n = 7

4) Let x and y be the sides of the rectangle. A = xy = 37.5 Million or y = 37.5/x

The length of the fences is f(x) = 2x + 3y = 2x+112.5/x

f '(x) = 2-112.5/x2 --> x = √56.5 = 7.5 and y = 37.5/7.5 = 5 then scale by √Million

smaller = 5000 ft and larger = 7500 ft

this took me ages to work out so hopefully it helped

When 142 is added to a number, the result is 64 more times than 3 times the number. What is the number?
allsm [11]

x+142 =3x+64

subtract x from each side

142 = 2x+64

subtract 64 from each side

142-64 = 2x

78=2x

divide by 2

78/2 = x

x=39

The number is 39

Find equations of the spheres with center(1, −1, 6)that touch the following planes.a) xy-planeb) yz-planec) xz-plane
Misha Larkins [42]

Given :

Center of sphere , C( 1 , -1 , 6 ) .

To Find :

Find equations of the spheres with center (1, −1, 6) that touch the following planes.a) xy-plane b) yz-plane c) xz-plane .

Solution :

a)

Distance of the point from xy-plane is :

d = 6 units .

So , equation of circle with center C and radius 6 units is :

(x-1)^2+(y-(-1))^2+(z-6)^2=6^2\\\\(x-1)^2+(y+1)^2+(z-6)^2=36

b)

Distance of point from yz-plane is :

d = 1 unit .

So , equation of circle with center C and radius 1 units is :

(x-1)^2+(x+1)^2+(z-6)^2=1^2\\\\(x-1)^2+(x+1)^2+(z-6)^2=1

c)

Distance of point from xz-plane is :

d = 1 unit .

So , equation of circle with center C and radius 1 units is :

(x-1)^2+(x+1)^2+(z-6)^2=1^2\\\\(x-1)^2+(x+1)^2+(z-6)^2=1

Hence , this is the required solution .
