Jeremy made a Venn diagram showing the number of students in his class who own types of pets. There are 32 students in his class

. In addition to the information in the Venn diagram, Jeremy knows half of the students have a dog, $\frac{3}{8}$ have a cat, six have some other pet and five have no pet at all. How many students have all three types of pets (i.e. they have a cat and a dog as well as some other pet)?

The Venn diagram is attached in the figure.

Total number of students         = 32
Number of students have a dog = 0.5 *32 = 16
Number of students have a cat  = (3/8) * 32 = 12
Number of students have other pets = 6
Number of students have no pets = 5

From the Venn diagram:
Number of students have a dog = x+y+z+10
Number of students have a cat  = x+z+w+9
Number of students have other pets = y+z+w+2

Total number of students have no pets = 32 – (x+y+z+w+21)

So, as a conclusion for the above information

x+y+z+10 = 16                 (1)

x+z+w+9   = 12                 (2)

y+z+w+2 = 6                    (3)

32 – (x+y+z+w+21) = 5  (4)

By solving the system of equations to find x , y , z , w

x = 2 , y = 3 , z = 1 , w = 0

By using Venn diagram

Number of students <span>have all three types of pets</span> = z = 1 student

Determine whether the following statement is true or false. Justify your answer.
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

B. The statement is false. This is true only if θ is an acute angle in a right triangle.

Step-by-step explanation:

Trigonometric ratio formula can only be applied to define the relationship between the angles of a right triangle and its side lengths.

Therefore, it is impossible to define or find the tan θ of "any triangle". It only applies to right angled triangles.

In the case of a right triangle, given a reference angle, θ, tan θ = side lenght opposite to θ ÷ side lenght adjacent to θ (tan θ = \frac{opp}{adj}.

A right triangle has two acute angles and 1 right angle that which is 90°.

Therefore, we can conclude that:

"B. The statement is false. This is true only if θ is an acute angle in a right triangle."

<h2>Answer:</h2>

<u>24.</u>

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

<h3>1. Write the expression.</h3>

(6x+3y)-\frac{z^{2}}{(2x)}

<h3>2. Substitute the variables by the respective given value using <u>parenthesis</u>.</h3>

(6(3)+3(4))-\frac{(6)^{2}}{(2(3))}

<h3>3. Simplify the expression by applying the hierarchy or mathematical operations.</h3>

<em>a) Solve parenthesis.</em>

(18+12)-\frac{(6)^{2}}{6}\\ \\30-\frac{(6)^{2}}{6}

<em>b) Solve the exponent.</em>

30-\frac{36}{6}

<em>c) Divide.</em>

30-6

<em>d) Subtract.</em>

24.

A motorcycle travels 3 and 1/8 miles in 2.5 minutes. Which of the following represents the rate, to the nearest mile, at which t
bonufazy [111]
The rate would be 75 miles in 1 hour.

Set up a proportion to solve this:
3 1/8 miles in 2.5 minutes gives us the ratio 3.125/2.5.
The second ratio would be x miles in 60 minutes, or x/60.

3.125/2.5 = x/60

Cross multiply:
187.5 = 2.5x

Divide both sides by 2.5:
187.5/2.5 = 2.5x/2.5
75=x
