The answer that best describes the effect of the repetition of the word "I" throughout the poem is the second choice - It reinforces the sense of personal importance the issue has for Douglass.
The Fourth of July celebrates independence that America gained from England, however, given that the slaves were unaffected by this change, Douglass felt the need to write a poem about a mere slave whose life hasn't been changed at all after his new country gained independence.

Answer:

The correct answer is It reinforces the sense of personal importance the issue has for Douglass.

Explanation:

The repetition of the word "I" during the speech is to emphasize everything Douglass lived with respect to slavery, and the hypocrisy that exists in the country in terms of freedom and celebration on July 4th.

Being an abolitionist born in slavery, Douglass preferred to speak of July 5th in which during the year 1827, 4000 African Americans celebrated the end of slavery in their state.

In his speech, Douglass acknowledged that those who signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th only wanted to have an image of a correct republic, without taking into account that at the national level there were still many citizens who could not enjoy their freedom.

Which excerpt from the play best supports the statement?
dusya [7]

Answer:

Miss Prism. No married man is ever attractive except to his wife.

Explanation:

The story "The Importance of Being Earnest" is a classic example of comedy of manners. The story presents the picture of Victorian upper class society. The norms prevalent in the society at that time revolved around materialistic nature and superficial attitude. The Victorian society was much indulged in hypocrisy and frivolous nature. The materialistic nature and the norms of the society has been highlighted in the story.

The above line said by Miss Prism is an example of the feature of a comedy of manners. The importance of a husband has been only specified to his wife because of the materialistic support that the husband gives to the wife. The emotional aspect is not touched by this statement.

WHAT ARE CONTEXT CLUES AND CONNOTATIONS??!??!? help me!
Ksivusya [100]

Context clues are hints that an author gives to help define a difficult or unusual word within a book. The clue may appear within the same sentence as the word to which it refers or it may follow in the next sentence. A connotation is a commonly understood cultural or emotional association that some word or phrase carries, in addition to its explicit or literal meaning, which is its denotation. A connotation is frequently described as either positive or negative, with regard to its pleasing or displeasing emotional connection.
