John Marshall was an American politician and lawyer that became one of the most influential justices during his term as Chief Justice of the United States from 1801 to 1835. One of its accomplishment was the establishment of Judicial Review in the landmark case Marbury v. Madison (1803), a principle that is still part of the American government nowadays.
This principle refers to the Supreme Court's ability to review legislation enacted by Congress and actions of the executive and to determine their unconstitutionality.
