The air flows in an anti clockwise direction in that diagram because water takes more time to cool down comparatively slower than the land because a lot of heat is required to heat the water and therefore water has a lot of heat stored in water causing the water to heat slower than the land even if they let the energy out at the same time still water takes more time.
