The sixteenth amendment was a significant implementation in the constitution of the United States that granted the state government to imply and collect taxes for the citizens of its State. Those tax levied by the central government is to be spent on the military, building roads , construction of bridges and carry out numerous constitutional duties.

Further Explanations:

Sixteenth Amendment of the constitution was ratified in 1913 and was warmly welcomed by the states of south and west. Seeds of the amendment were sowed in 1909 when congress voted for a joint resolution and it was ratified by Alabama within a month. Later after its ratification from the 36th state Delaware, it was forced into effect in February 1913.

The first income on the citizens as per this Amendment was imposed in the same year. The tax slab consisted of seven brackets that ranged from 1% to 7% depending on the income. Through this slab, the government was able to raise $28.3 million in the very same year. The tax collected by the administration is used for the well-being of the citizens itself as tax is the only significant source of income for any government. The government spends these funds on the public service.
