Answer:

Ethics

Explanation:

Utilitarian ethics is based on the belief of evaluating the benefits and harms of actions. In this case the action is lying to the young team in order to keep their spirts high and encourage the team to continue to play and have fun.

So lying although by some considered as unethical, utilitarian ethics considers it acceptable when the action (the lie) has a greater benefit or minimizes harm, than not lying.

Utilitarian ethics does not consider it immoral to lie if the lie has a greater benefit or it reduces harm. It could even be considered immoral not to lie because of the harm it could cause, in this case to the young team.

In this example if the girls' soccer coach did not lie it could hurt the spirts of the young soccer team, and could discourage them from continuing to play and have fun.

So Kathleen the girls' soccer coach estimated the consequence of the lie as a greater benefit than telling the truth and possibly hurting the teams spirits and fun.

Although it seems reasonable to lie to the team and not hurt their feelings, some critizise this approach. The problem that critics have with utilitarian ethics is that people could erronuesly estimate the consequence of the lie and the harm or benefits it could have.

For example, maybe by telling the team the truth it would encourage the team to improve and grow by correcting their mistakes and having a positive outcome.

So although lying could seem as the right thing to do for Kathleen, other coaches could have a different approach, and ethical thought should be considered when making decisions that could harm or benefit people.

aleksandrvk [35]

This is due to the body's tendency to maintain homeostasis.

Explanation:

Homeostasis is resisting change in order to maintain a balanced internal environment. Since the bodily function is constantly experiencing change, it has to regulate and maintain the balance. Sweat is an example of a process meant to maintain body temperature.

For homeostasis to occur, the body must be subjected to negative stimulus such as a body temperature exceeding 37^{o}C. The negative loop is then created by other body functions to counteract the effect of the stimulus. In the case of temperature, the negative loop produces sweat resulting in lower body temperature.

The shovel felt heavy in Stanley’s soft, fleshy hands. He tried to jam it into the earth, but the blade banged against the groun
denpristay [2]

Answer:

Pendanski wakes everyone, Stanley tries to jam the shovel into the earth, Stanley thinks his shovel is defective, Stanley sees Zero’s pile of dirt.

Explanation:

A narrative structure is a primary element of writing that follows an order/a sequence of events so that readers and listeners can follow the narratives smoothly.

The list "Pendanski wakes everyone, Stanley tries to jam the shovel into the earth, Stanley thinks his shovel is defective, Stanley sees Zero’s pile of dirt." is the correct list that shows the narrative structure of the excerpt.

If we look into the excerpt, the list mentioned above follows the correct narrative structure because after Pendanski wakes up everyone, Stanley as well as the others are forced to jam the shovel into the earth.

However, Stanley could not jam the earth though he tries to with all his might. He thinks that his shovel must be broken. Then finally he looks at Zero’s pile of dirt and wonders how he could do such hard task so easily.
