This type of communication is referred to as intrapersonal communication.

The prefix intra means within. So this type of communication happens within a person.

Think of the communication process of sender - receiver-feedback.

This process can take place in the mind when you reflect on any issue.

Think of yourself lying on your bed or sitting under a tree or at your desk…alone, thinking about an issue, a problem - pulling it apart and trying to make sense of it.

It also happens when you read a book and engage mentally with the story.

Here you are communicating with yourself. You are involved in intrapersonal communication.
