English!! Difference among "get down", "get out", "get off" and "get on" and among "get through", "get over", "get across"?

They're basically opposites, if that's what you're asking.

"Get down" is to go downwards. To "get out" is to leave some place, or get something out of some place. To "get off" is to get up from some place or go away, depending on how you use it. To "get on" is to get on top of something or to move along. "Get through" would be to go through something. "Get over" is to get done with something or reach the other side of something. "Get across" is to cross to other side.

That's a lot of "get"s. If I haven't answered your question correctly, please explain more so that I can understand what you're trying to ask.

diamong [38]

The correct answer is option letter C. Taken from the public speech called "<em>I Have a Dream</em>" by Martin Luther King Jr., the life of poverty many African-Americans led during the 1960s is compared to <u>a lonely island</u>. Dr. King used this metaphor to explain how African-Americans were isolated and set apart from the rest of the society like a lonely island in the middle of “a vast ocean of material prosperity” as he explains.

mr Goodwill [35]

Answer:

Agree.

Explanation:

I agree with the quote because it shows how no matter your circumstances, anyone can help improve the world. For example, teen activists, though young, have been making an impact on global issues. This quote might impact my life and the lives of people around me by demonstrating that anybody can make a change in the world and inspire people to start speaking up on issues they're passionate about.
