The country holds a population of 3.2 million citizens with 70 % expatriates as its native. It has a vast oil reserve which is one of the most significant aspects of the economy of the nation. Most of its oil reserves were discovered during the 1940s, which was the reason behind its modernization.  

Due to its vast reserve of oil, it was attacked by Iraqi Saddam Husain, whose intention of` attacking Kuwait was only to gain control over the oil reserve of the Kuwait. After his conquest and authority over Kuwait on 2nd August 1990, most of the nation started opposing his invasion.

Operation Desert Strom was a clash between the Iraqi and coalition of 34 nations headed by the United States to liberate Kuwait. The clash began in 1911, fought both navy and land army along the territories of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. Resultant of the war was that Iraqi were thrown pout from Kuwait.

On August 2, Saddam Hussein led Iraq in an invasion of Kuwait. This allowed then to steal oil so once it happened, there were worries that an invasion of Saudi Arabia which would allow Iraq to control 1/5 of all oil in the world so U.S president George Bush got support of the public and congress and sent hundreds of thousands of troops along with support of ally troops to Saudi Arabia in defense which was called operation desert shield. So George Bush gave Saddam Hussein until January 15 to leave Kuwait or face attack. But Saddam Hussein did not leave so on January 16, so a coalition force led by the United States started operation desert storm which led Iraq signing a peace treaty. This entire war was called the Persian gulf war which ended February 28.
