The term Cold War is used for the period when the United States and the Soviet Union were having constant tensions between them, resulting in lot of wars and revolutions around the world, sponsored by them, as well as constant military threats to one another.

In this period, both of these countries tried to gain as much allies as possible, spread out their political and economic interests as much as possible, as well as military and technological superiority. This resulted in numerous revolutions and wars, as well as setting boundaries across the world.

In Asia it was Vietnamese War, were the north was supported by the Soviets, and the south by the Americans, and as always the ordinary, innocent people suffered the most.

In Europe it was the Berlin Wall, which was set in Berlin, dividing the city, but also the country of Germany, thus dividing the people form their friends and families.

Komok [63]

One of the best songs of the sixties that I have heard was “The Times They Are A Changing” by Bob Dylan.  Clearly this song reflects the growing change in attitude among the young during the sixties as if they were now showing their breaking away from the ideals and beliefs of their parents.  How they were now asserting their views for it was their time and they showed during that period in history.

Compare and contrast the middle colonies and southern colonies during the restoration era.
boyakko [2]

Both the Southern and Middle Colonies had fertile farmlands, but only the Middle Colonies was able to provide trading opportunities, thanks to their coastal lowland and bay-provided harbors. Southern Colonies highly contributed to the rise of cash crops such as rice, tobacco, and indigo. Slaves cultivate huge tracts of land and plantations owned by wealthy aristocrats and large landowners. On the other hand, Middle Colonies were more suitable for growing grain and livestock, with its environment ideal for small to large farms. More diverse workforce also exists in the Middle Colonies, consisting of farmers, fisherman, and merchants. Another notable contrast between the two colonies is that, for the people of the South, life developed as rough and rural while people of the Middle countries are deeply connected to the Church and village community.

What is one power the supreme court has over the judicial court
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

The President (Executive Branch) has the power to appoint US Supreme Court justices and other (Article III ) federal judges. subject to approval by the Senate. He can and does choose judges who subscribe to his own legal philosophy and so can possibly shape future court opinions. The judges serve for life and their stance on future cases is hard to predict in many cases.

The president can also grant pardons for federal offenses

One is the fact that the judicial branch needs the executive branch to enforce its decisions. As an example, when the Supreme Court ruled that segregation in public schools was unconstitutional in Brown v. Bd. of Education of Topeka, it took the President's ordering the National Guard out to make some states abide by the ruling. The Judicial Branch has no way to enforce its decisions without the executive's co-operation.. Another is the fact that it is the executive branch that nominates the judges in the first place. As a practical matter, presidents nominate persons who share the same political beliefs they do. This has the effect of creating (or trying to create) a judicial branch that will interpret the Constitution the way that that president would like. Trouble is, once a Supreme Court Justice is confirmed, nothing can be done to force him or her to rule in a particular way. They are appointed with lifetime tenure on good behavior and their salaries cannot be diminished while they are in office.. And as to salaries, nothing says a president has to include raises for them in any budget he proposes.

The Executive branch gets to choose candidates for federal judgeships, including Supreme Court Justices. The President also has the power to pardon people convicted of federal offenses, Since the President controls the Department of Justice, he has some leeway in how laws are enforced.
