What theme does the following excerpt from Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis deal with? Hearing these words from his mother made G

regor realise that the lack of any direct human communication, along with the monotonous life led by the family during these two months, must have made him confused—he could think of no other way of explaining to himself why he had seriously wanted his room emptied out. Had he really wanted to transform his room into a cave, a warm room fitted out with the nice furniture he had inherited? That would have let him crawl around unimpeded in any direction, but it would also have let him quickly forget his past when he had still been human. He had come very close to forgetting, and it had only been the voice of his mother, unheard for so long, that had shaken him out of it. Nothing should be removed; everything had to stay; he could not do without the good influence the furniture had on his condition; and if the furniture made it difficult for him to crawl about mindlessly that was not a loss but a great advantage.

Answer:

C. The disconnection between mind and body.

Explanation:

It isn't about the ineffectiveness of language because it isn't put to a test in the excerpt. There's nothing specifically about middle-class nor social structures for that matter. It's all about Gregor's social anxiety. His will to do things although he isn't really able to rationalize them. His is struggling mentally while wanting physically other things. The room isn't good for his body in the state that he is, but it would do no good for his mind since he could forget that he was human.

Why does nick feel responsible for getting people to the funeral? Why do you suppose wolfsheim reacts the way he does?
Ainat [17]

There are a few possible answers that come quickly to mind for this question. The first is that Nick is an extremely lonely person. Before the action of the novel starts (with his introduction to Gatsby and his rich lifestyle), Nick describes himself as being alone in a profession for which he holds no passion. He meets Jordan, who is certainly glamorous, but also has a sort of honest integrity about her absent from most of Gatsby's other guests. This is the second reason. He can tell there is something both childish and troubled about her, which suggests a depth he can't find in others, including his cousin. He has a story to tell, and she seems a person to share it with. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that he is attracted to her.
