The Electoral College affects the executive branch because it determines the next president and vice president.

The Electoral College is the system used every four years to determine the president. Each state has delegates that represent the interests of the voters. These delegates are then tasked with giving a states electoral votes to a particular candidate. The candidate who receives the most votes in a particular state will receive that states electoral votes.

In order to become president, a candidate must receive 270 electoral votes. The number of electoral votes for each state varies. States with larger populations usually have more electoral votes than those states with smaller populations.

The main way in which the Electoral College affects the executive branch is by allowing president of the country to be chosen by ‘Electors’ instead of majority of population.

Further Explanation:

There are total of 538 members who make an ‘Electoral College’. The members of Electoral College vote to decide that who will be the President and Vice-President of United States. This number of 538 is sum of nation’s 435 representatives, 100 Senators and 3 electors which are given to the district of Colombia. Once in every four years, Polling takes place in United States for the post of President and Vice President of the country. The candidate who gets the majority of votes in Senate wins the state electoral votes. Only the state of Nebraska and Maine are the two states which have completely different system of electing by system of proportional representation. The process of electors selected varies from state to state in America. Some political parties usually nominate their party candidate in political rally and some of the time if it is difficult to decide a candidate unanimously then voting within the political parties take place to choose the right candidate. Just in case if no one gets the majority in the state then it is further accessed by ‘House of representatives’ and they do voting within those candidates and then whosoever gets the majority, Wins the election.
