Hello!

You can put in y for the first equation

2x - 3(x - 1) = -1

Distribute the -3

2x - 3x + 3 = -1

Combine like terms

-x + 3 = -1

Subtract 3 from both sides

-x = -4

Since x is negative we can multiply both sides by -1 to make x positive

x = 4

We can put x into the second equation to get y

y = 4 - 1

y = 3

The answers are x = 4 and y = 3

Hope this helps!

Substitute y=x-1 into 2x-3y=-1

2x-3y=-1
2x-3(x-1)=-1
2x - 3x + 3 = -1
-x = -4
x = 4

substitute x = 4 into y=x-1
y=x-1 = 4 - 1 = 3

answer
x = 4 and y = 3

Shannon test-drive a car in Germany and drives 59 kilometers per hour. What is her speed in miles per hour? (1km = .062 miles)
Lady bird [3.3K]

Answer:

Her speed is = 36.58  mi/h

Step-by-step explanation:

To convert 59 km/h into mi/h, we use that 1 km = 0.62 miles. Then, we can directly replace the unit "km" in the expression for the velocity, with 0.62 miles and operate the explicit product of 59 times 0.62:

59 km/h = 59 (0.62 mi)/h = 36.58 mi/h

The cost of a manicure at a nail salon is $20. Theresa wants to include 15% tip with her payment for a manicure. What is Theresa
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

The answer to your question is $ 23

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

Initial cost = $20

tip = 15 %

Total payment

Process

1.- Calculate the 15% of $20, considering that $20 is 100%.

                         $20 ---------------- 100 %

                             x   ----------------   15%

                             x = (15% x $20) / 100%

                             x = $300 / 100

                             x = $3

2.- Total payment

           P = $20 + $3

           P = $23

3.- Conclusion

     Theresa payed $23 for the manicure
