Which sentences in this excerpt from F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams" seem to foreshadow Dexter’s future obsession with "po

ssessing" Judy Jones? Now, of course, the quality and the seasonability of these winter dreams varied, but the stuff of them remained. They persuaded Dexter several years later to pass up a business course at the State university—his father, prospering now, would have paid his way—for the precarious advantage of attending an older and more famous university in the East, where he was bothered by his scanty funds. But do not get the impression, because his winter dreams happened to be concerned at first with musings on the rich, that there was anything merely snobbish in the boy. He wanted not association with glittering things and glittering people—he wanted the glittering things themselves. Often he reached out for the best without knowing why he wanted it—and sometimes he ran up against the mysterious denials and prohibitions in which life indulges. NextReset

"He wanted not association with glittering things and glittering people—he wanted the glittering things themselves. Often he reached out for the best without knowing why he wanted it—and sometimes he ran up against the mysterious denials and prohibitions in which life indulges."

These sentences foreshadow his possession with Judy. The sentences say that he wanted things themselves and he liked the best of them.

Abraham Lincoln create a somewhat spiritual tone in his Gettysburg address what words from this sentence best demonstrate that t
Lostsunrise [7]
I've actually mastered memorizing the Gettysburg address in 7th grade and now I'm going to 8th grade and the tone that Abraham Lincoln used as he read his speech was a calm but serious tone. In his speech(mid half of his speech) he said " we are met on a great battlefield of that war. " and "we have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that, that nation might live" you notice that his tone in those two main parts are calm and serious. This also applies to the rest of the speech. Lincoln's speech is one of the greatest speech of all times because his speech was a message to the soldier's both from the Union and Confederates side who fought in Gettysburg. I hope this message answers your question.
