How do Arthur’s knights first respond to the Green Knights challenge? Why does the Green knight laugh at their response? Judging

-Pg 711, they were shocked at first when the knight came in

-Shows reader that they were not expecting it.

-"Astonished and still", they're definitely nervous and scared.  

-Could possibly be tired of getting challenges.

-He's heard so many things about their wondrous deeds and thinks it's funny that they don't seem to step up when it comes to him

-His reaction is saying "he's had enough with the making fun of"  

-Chivalry and honor is very important to him

-Green knight made a fool out of Arthur and he would not stand for that  

-Stands up and takes challenge because he does not want the green knight putting down his men and his kingdom
