Answer:

A. his wife dies, leaving him with a young child.

B. solitude.

D. Heathcliff

B. Cathy and Hareton are able to work through their differences

Explanation:

Hindley is one of the most despicable characters of the novel. He has very few redeeming qualities, and is extremely unlikable. He has treated Heathcliff badly throughout his whole life. However, his turning point comes when his wife dies, which he takes as a license to become even more tyrannical.

Lockwood claims that he has come to Thrushcross Grange in order to find peace and solitude. However, this is far from what he will actually encounter.

After Hindley comes home drunk, he drops Hareton from the top of the stairs. Luckily, Heathcliff is able to catch him, saving his life.

Cathy and Hareton offer an alternative to the brutal and wild relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff. Although they love each other as well, their relationship is less turbulent and more peaceful.

So we awaited our turn in the great hall and then we heard the Council of Vocations call our name: “Equality 7-2521.” We walked
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

B. The imagery of the decision shows that all power in society lies in one person’s hands.

Explanation:

"Anthem" is a novel written by<em> Ayn Rand.</em> It centers on the character of "Equality 7-2521," a young man who rebelled by pursuing a scientific research for he wanted to know many things about the world. The story also depicted the<em> "loss of individuality</em>" through the means of "collectivism." This allowed the "Council of Vocations" to decide what work people will pursue.

The situation above shows that all power in the society lies in one person's hands and this is not what Equality 7-2521 wanted. He was given the vocation of "sweeping." He wanted to express his individuality by studying, rather than by sweeping for he wanted to be a "Scholar," but he couldn't do anything with the decision.
