</span>Felix Mendelssohn Batholdy, a German musician who was prominent in the early romantic era was highly instrumental to the renewed interest in J.S Bach's work during that era through his 1829 Berlin performance of the St Matthew Passion<span>. This performance was the setting off what is now known as the Bach Revival.</span>
His performance of “St. Mattew Passion” in 1829 sparked the revival of baroque compositions in Germany. He stood out creatively, being considered one of the few remaining composers with a more conservative style as opposed to the rising success of adventurous artists.
