To persuade listeners to agree that it is important to have more diverse judges.

Explanation:

Sotomayor made a great point with the speech because the majority of the time Judges fell into a category of profile that made the job very biased. So she expressed that we needed different perspectives, different backgrounds, different judges, from different origins that could challenge the system, improve it, and make it just instead of biased as it was.
