There are many differences betweeen how people traded in the 1400s and how people trade nowadays. One aspect in which this differs is the trade routes that people follow. In the past, these routes were few and far in between, and they were usually stable through the years. Nowadays, trade is conducted in hundreds of different combinations all over the world.
