1. Growing up in a Soviet/communistic society can have its positives. For starters, everyone gets the same opportunities in life, which is an excellent basis. This means that if someone has bigger potential, by starting off at the same level with everyone else, can easily stick out and progress. Every institution is available for everyone, as well as having lot of social benefits, like the free healthcare for example. This sets nice basis for life for anyone that would grow up in a system like this, though in order for this to be function, the government should really stick to the communist doctrines.
2. Apart from having positives, the communism has its downsides as well. The downsides mostly come from the inappropriate implementation of this doctrine, as was the case in the Soviet Union. Growing up in a society like this, in practice, usually meant that there's no freedom of speech. Also, everyone, despite their profession, was taking the same wage more or less. People were made equal in pretty much everything, which in turn causes demotivate among the more intelligent and more capable individuals, as they get the same as all the others.
