When constructing a cover letter, you will need to be sure that it is as perfect as it can possibly be.  For instance, you will want to make sure the cover letter is formatted properly by ensuring the addresses, salutations, and paragraphs are appropriately formatted.  You’ll want to make sure you are using a formal/professional tone by avoiding slang, idioms, and contractions, and you’ll want to proofread for punctuation errors.  By doing so, this will speak to your awareness of how to appropriately communicate in a business or academic setting as well as to your attention to detail, which are desirable employee characteristics to potential employers.
