The correct answer is C) that Scott as a slave was not a citizen and therefore has no right to sue.

The statement that best describes the Supreme Court ruling in the Dread Scott case is that Scott as a slave was not a citizen and therefore has no right to sue.

On the case of Dred Scott about civil rights in America, the Supreme Court ruling was that neither free blacks or slaves could be American citizens. That slaves were property and if the owners moved to another state, the slave was still property. And that the Missouri compromise was against the law because Congress had no power to decide where slavery was allowed. The demand of Dred Scott was that he should be free because his owner had lived in a state that promoted freedom, and then he moved to a state that supported slavery.

What were the three requirements of the Homestead Act if someone wanted to take advantage of its offer?
mario62 [17]
I will assume you mean the Homestead Act of 1862, which was the first and most iconic one. In that case, the requirements were that the homesteader, the one filing the claim, be either the head of the household OR twenty-one years old, they had to live only on the designated land, build a home, improve it, and farm the land for five years, and, finally, they had to be a United States citizen that had never taken up arms against America.
