The manager of a store wants to have a sales promotion where she gives prizes to the first several people through the door. The
manager wants each person to receive the exact same items and in the same amount. She also wants to distribute all of the prizes. The manager has 240 pins, 360 ornaments, and 540 mugs to distribute. How many people will get gifts?
Okay- so the goal here is to figure out how many of each item the store manager has to give to each person for everyone to get the same amount of items, the same exact items, and to ALSO run out of items.
To do this, you need to divide the amount of items by how many of that item you want to give to each person. The result is how many people you can give that many of this item to before it runs out.
The answer is:
(Pins) 240: 4 per person (Ornaments) 360: 6 per person (Mugs) 540: 9 per person
The sales tax was 86.25 because when working with percent the way you convert percents to decimals is placing it 2 places behind a decimal point for example 7.5% goes into 0.075 then you take that 0.075 then multiply your decimal with 1150 so the sales tax is 86.25
