Answer:

There are 4 single bonds and 2 double bonds.

Explanation:

Sulfur atom has six electrons in its outermost shell which can participate in bonding and hence it will form six bonds in total.The chemical formula of sulfuric acid is given by H_{2} SO_{4}.In sulfuric acid we have four oxygen atoms and two hydrogen atoms.

Sulfur atom is bonded directly to all the four oxygen atoms out of which two are double bonds.The single-bonded oxygen atoms are inturn bonded to the two hydrogen atoms.

The above statements will make sense after you go through the figure given below.

Hence it has four single bonds and two double bonds.(counting only those bonds in which sulfur is involved)

Determine the ph of a 0.18 m h2co3 solution. carbonic acid is a diprotic acid whose ka1 = 4.3 × 10-7 and ka2 = 5.6 × 10-11. dete
oee [108]
Answer is: ph value is 3.56.
Chemical reaction 1: H₂CO₃(aq) ⇄ HCO₃⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq); Ka₁ = 4,3·10⁻⁷.
Chemical reaction 2: HCO₃⁻(aq) ⇄ CO₃²⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq); Ka₂ = 5,6·10⁻¹¹.
c(H₂CO₃) = 0,18 M.
[HCO₃⁻] = [H⁺] = x.
[H₂CO₃] = 0,18 M - x.
Ka₁ = [HCO₃⁻] · [H⁺] / [H₂CO₃].
4,3·10⁻⁷ = x² / (0,18 M -x).
Solve quadratic equation: x = [H⁺] =0,000293 M.
pH = -log[H⁺] = -log(0,000293 M).
pH = 3,56; second Ka do not contributes pH value a lot.

Match the following reactions with the reaction type. You may use each type more than once.
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

1) Decomposition

2)Double-replacement reaction

3)synthesis

4)Double-replacement reaction

5)single-replacement reaction

6)Double-replacement reaction

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Synthesis: This is a reaction where two or more reactants will combine to form a new, single product. This is occurs when two or more reactants combine to form a single product. This can be shown with the following equation.

A + B → C

A and B are the reactants to form a new product C

Decomposition: This is a reaction where 1 (more complex) compound will be broken down into 2 or more (more simple) products.

This can be shown by the following equation:

AB → A + B

A single replacement: This is a reaction where one element wil be replaced by another element in the same compound. This can be shown by the following equation:

A + BC → B + AC

Here is the elemnt B in the compound BC, replaced by the element A, to form a new compound AC

A double-replacement: This is a reaction where the positive and negative ions of two ionic compounds will be exchanged and 2 new compounds willbe formed. This can be shown by the following equation:

AB+CD→AD+BC

A combustion reaction requires oxygen gas (O2) to produce the products CO2 and H2O

Step 2:

1) 2HgO(s) → 2Hg(l) + O2(g)

⇒ Decomposition

2) KCl(aq) + AgNO3(aq) → AgCl(s) + KNO3(aq)

⇒ Double-replacement reaction

3) 2Na(s) + H2(g) → 2NaH(s)

⇒ synthesis

4) Mg(OH)2(aq) + 2HNO2(aq) → Mg(NO2)2(aq) + 2 H2O(l)

⇒ Double-replacement reaction

5) Ca(s) + 2AgNO3(aq) → Ca(NO3)2(aq) + Ag(s)

⇒ Single-replacement reaction

6) Al2O3(s) + H2SO4(aq) → Al2(SO4)3(aq) + H2O(l)

⇒ Double-replacement reaction

You discover a bottle of aqueous sodium chloride of unknown molarity. However, the bottle says that there are 0.75 moles of NaCl
lara31 [8.8K]
To calculate the molarity you only need to know the number of moles in the solution and the volume of that solution. This exercise gives both and with that you divide moles by volume(usually in liters).

500 ml equals 0,5 L
molarity= number of moles/ volume
molarity=0,75 x 0,5
= 0,375 mol/L
