Answer:

There are 20 years in a score, so "four score and seven years ago" refers to 87 years before (as 4 x 20 + 7 = 87), that is, 1776 (87 years before 1863, the year of the Gettysburg Address, as 1863 - 87 = 1776). Therefore, President Lincoln was referring to the year of the Declaration of the Independence of the United States of America.

Solve for x.<br> 2x² +21x-61 = (x+7)²<br><br> Please
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

x = \frac{-7 +\sqrt{489} }{2}

x = \frac{-7 - \sqrt{489} }{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

2x² +21x-61 = (x+7)²

expand

2x² + 21x - 61 = x² + 14x +49

move everything to one side

x² + 7x - 12 = 0

use quadratic formula

x = \frac{-b +- \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a}

plug in the values

x = \frac{-7 +- \sqrt{7^{2}-4(1)(-110) } }{2(1)}

solve

x = \frac{-7 +- \sqrt{49-4(1)(-110) } }{2}

x = \frac{-7 +- \sqrt{49 + 440 } }{2}

x = \frac{-7 +- \sqrt{489} }{2}

Help quick! I'll mark your answer as the brainliest if your answer is correct!
Anna007 [38]

Answer:

They would never intersect because they are parallel lines. You can tell they are parallel lines because they have the same slope and they have a different y-intercept. However, this doesn't mean that there was no solutions, there were, thats how i was able to tell what their slopes and y-intercepts were. So if there is an answer that you can choose from that explains that they won't intersect because they are parallel then that is the correct answer. It may be C, but I would see if there is another option.
