In a small village up on a hill there lived a little girl named Hope. She always wanted to go to school but her parents told her she couldn't because they all worked in the fields. One day she left from home and realized all the cool things that she has missed while being at home so she decided to run away, and never go back. Then she stopped and saw a lot of children playing with a ball. The children looked at her differently because she wore dirty clothes and had bare feet. They wondered where she came from and laughed at her. A kind woman noticed the situation and walked over to Hope. The lady took a tissue from her purse and gently wiped the dirt from Hope's face. She had extra pair of sandals in her purse as well, and gave them to Hope. Hope smiled as she slipped them on. Hope asked the lady who she was and the lady said she was a teacher at the local school. Hope smiled and told her she always wanted to go to school but her parents couldn't take her because they worked in the fields all day. Hope's parents found her talking to the teacher. Hope's parents scolded her for talking to a stranger and the the teacher introduced herself to them. The parents told the teacher that Hope could not go to school because they work in the fields. The teacher told them she could help them by taking Hope to school and drop her off as well. Hope was happy and her parents saw her smiling so they said okay.

20 years later Hope became a teacher.

ASAP In "Exhalation," what is the "inscription hypothesis"?
Tems11 [23]

In "Exhalation", “the belief that memory is recorded as writing in the brain” is the "inscription hypothesis"

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

The author, Ted Chiang, feels suspicious about the slow functioning of the human’s brain and decides to find out why. He dissects the brain and finds out that the brains are not malfunctioning but are actually working faster. He wondered and questioned about the fineness of brain.

For decades, the theory of memory dominated that all human experiences are engraved on the golden leaf; it was these blades that were torn apart by the force of the explosion and were the cause of small flakes found after the disaster.

Anatomists collect pieces of golden leaf - so thin that light falls out of the greenery - and have been trying for years to reconstruct the original leaves in the hope of deciphering characters recording the last experiences of the deceased.

He later comes up with a hypothesis called the inscription hypothesis, stating that human memory is recorded as writing in the brain. Exhalation by Ted Chiang is a short story which is filled with science, thus making it a science based short story.

which group of writers valued reason and logical thinking over faith A. the puritans B. the enlightenment writers C. the native
Naddika [18.5K]

B. The Enlightenment writers valued reason and logical thinking over faith. Most of the Enlightenment writers, such as Rousseau or Montesquieu, used logical thinking to prove their points or hypothesis. They didn't invoke God's reasons or authority to do so. Not because they were atheists, but because they believed that reasoning was what gonna take humanity into a better future, they believed that reasoning enlightenments, while the sole belief in God what was stopped humanity from developing a better society. That's why the Enlightenment period is called that way and the Middle Ages are sometimes referred as Dark Ages, because Europe has felt from a scientifically and technologically rich period into a period where people was set aback to survive by their own meanings. A lot of the classical knowledge and technology that made life easier was lost after the fall of the Roman Empire, and it wasn't until Renaissance that it was recovered.
