The mechanization of agriculture increased production and lower costs. It also decreased the amount of labor that was needed. As a result, it decreased the need for labor in rural areas which led to people moving from rural to urban areas looking for employment.

On the other side, the industry was thriving, the expansion of machines to produce goods led to the mass production of goods and the growth of factories. More workers were needed to work at machines in factories, people who used to work in rural areas now worked in big cities in factories. This led to the growth of cities and resulted in the urbanization of America.
