In 1215, the angry English nobles forced King John to sign the Magna Carta or the Great Charter of Liberties which introduced the idea of limited government. It curtailed the powers of the king or monarch and gave more freedom to the people. The idea of this charter was later adopted by various democratic countries and founding fathers used this idea in the founding of US.
