The United States are more interested in building military bases in the Philippines because it is a strategic location wherein it will serve as a gateway for the US forces in Asia and the Pacific. Actually, there has been US military bases in the Philippines only it stopped its operation during 1992.

blimp jk it was a time in the Western US of droughts with no water and people were very poor because the farmers ran off of crops but there was a drought so all the crops died therefore no money for farmers(aka everyone)
One of the main ways they were similar was in their form of government. Both Athens and Sparta had an assembly, whose members were elected by the people. Thus, because both parts of Athens' government had leaders who were elected, Athens is said to have been the birthplace of democracy. Spartan life was simple.
