City or Village - where shall we live? The recent trend is to settle in urban areas. Why? People migrate from villages to cities in search of jobs. Agriculture and cottage industries in villages is no longer an option to earn one's livelihood. Industrial and white collared jobs are the main attraction.
The city has quick means of transport as compared to the village. Buses, trains, rickshaws and private vehicles has made travelling long distances to ones work place, no problem at all, in the city.
The next attraction in a city is better medical facilities. From surgeries to transplants and even plastic surgery to enhance your beauty, the city has it all. Most villages have educational institutions mainly to the high school level. If there are colleges it is mainly for streams like Arts, Science and Commerce. However, in a city you are spoilt for choice. College education includes engineering, medical, veterinary, agriculture, space and aeronautics.
However there is a downside to this rosy picture. A city brings to mind slums and garbage everywhere. Entire families live on footpaths. Increase in population has led to abject poverty as there are not enough jobs to go around. People live in tiny flats close to each other with no privacy.
Garbage is a problem that no one has been able to solve in most cities. Besides the bad smell, garbage leads to breeding of mosquitoes and houseflies which in turn gives rise to malaria, dengue and so on.
So which one should it be, City or Village? If you have an adequate source of income the clean fresh village life would be better. However in today's fast-paced life of computers and rockets, living in a city has become a necessity.
hope this helps !.....
