I don't think A is correct because these conditions aren't really harsh given that nobody is even paying attention to the tree so it can grow unnoticed. B is also incorrect because the tree is ignored, and thus doesn't disturb their lives. C is incorrect because he doesn't like this tree, but rather fears it because of its effects.</span>
