The Disunited States of America
Strengths of AoC
- landmark in government
- provided loose confederation (at least some disjointed unity)
- kept alive the ideal of Union, held states together until they were ready to implement a strong constitution
- congress still effective in passing land laws (Land Ordinance of 1785, Northwest Ordinance)
Negatives of AoC
- Congress was extremely weak: no power to regulate commerce, states left free to establish laws that were different and in conflict with one another (tariffs, navigation)
- no tax-collection program.
Answer:
The biggest changes were in rigging. At first they concentrated on lateen sails, then added a mix of square sails and lateen for deeper penetration into the South Atlantic, with further changes for the much longer route round the Cape. Knowledge of these techniques was protected by forbidding sales of ships to other countries. A third commercial advantage was Portugal's ability to absorb “new Christians” — Jewish merchants and scholars had played a significant role during Muslim rule.

The Articles became very weak and were unable to do lots of things. Like for example draft army members and tax the states.
I'm thinking chocolate since I'm pretty sure lots of people rationed sugar during WWII. I don't think they would have rationed weapons, automobiles or water. Hope that helps.
