The battle of Coral Sea a victory for the United States as it forced the Japanese to call off their attack on New Guinea.

Further Explanations:

The conflict of the “Coral Sea” was a foremost naval encounter fought amid the aerial forces of Australia and the United States in the “Pacific Theatre” during WWII.It was fought amid 4-8 May and is significant historically as it was the first instance when aircraft carries affianced each other and the conflicting naval forces neither sighted nor attacked directly on each other. The act was only to show off their strength in the pacific region.

The whole instance started as when Japan invaded Tulagi and Port Moresby in the naval operation called Operation Mo involving several combined fleet of the Japanese army. When the United States came to know about this plan through its signal intelligence, it ordered two carrier task forces and one Australian cruiser to oppose the opponent forces. Though the Japanese army was able to annex Tulagi its several warships got sunk in the surprise aerial attack of the United States.
