The scenes of the walls of the first Egyptian tombs feature activities such as hunting, fishing and farming environments; artistic and commercial activities; housework etc. Such reliefs show a confident belief in the future as a kind of extension of the present life.
All these sculptures were made in various sizes. Representative are the huge colossi of rulers and the small figures (shabtis) that were placed in the tombs and represented the workers who would accompany the deceased in the afterlife.
