The main difference between FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully is that Mulder believes in the existence of aliens, and Scully doesn't. Namely, the greatest passion in Mulder's life is to find the truth about aliens, and that is the most important motivation in his engagement as FBI agent. His motto is „I want to believe“, and he truly believes that his sister was abducted by aliens when he was young boy. On the other hand, his partner Scully is a scientist, and she does not believe in aliens. She is repeating that one should have the real scientific evidence first before he could claim that there is an extraterrestrial life. Mulder is irrational, and Sculy is rational. Another difference between them is that Scully believes in God, and Mulder is an atheist.
