Over 60,000 US soldiers died in Vietnam, over 2.1 million Vietnamese soldiers & civilians died in Vietnam, it cost billions

of dollars to fight, & had horrible effects on people that fought & lived through it. However, we did try to stop the spread of communism. Do you think this war was worth fighting? Why or why not?

Answer:

The war was not worth fighting.

Explanation:

First of all, the American military was ill-prepared for the war because it did not know well what strategy the Vietcong would use against the American soldiers, as they did not expected the war to become almost a guerrilla warfare.

Secondly, the American military and government ignored Vietnam's geography, economy, society and history, and this made it difficult to understand the context, and garner support from the Vietnamese people.

Third, the war was held in a far away country that did not pose any direct threat to American citizens

Finally, the war caused heavy casualties to both sides, including Vietnamese civilians, that did not lead to a victory, since the American military technically lost the war as it had to retreat.

Why didn't the federal local governments collect an excise tax on alcohol during prohibition
astraxan [27]

For decades prior to the Prohibition (i.e., the legal ban of alcoholic drinks) made possible by the Eighteen Amendment, different Christian churches and organizations had been objecting to the consumption of alcohol since they considered it as the source of most debauchery and moral decadence. Their goal was made clear to the federal government: alcohol should be completely banned in order to clean society up. An excise tax on alcohol would have been rejected by all the moralistic groups advocating for prohibition as a mild and ineffective measure

Evaluate the extent to which the United States maintained Jefferson's vision for America (were "Jeffersonians" really Jeffersoni
N76 [4]
The United States adopted quite couple of Jefferson’s ideas.
One being his ideas on the Declaration of Independence; he felt it should be referenced and changed with every generation to keep up with the ever-changing needs of newer generations. This impacts our present day, and is why we have the Census every 10 years.
The second being The Ward System. The Ward System was created by Jefferson, and provided free school, the scholarship system, police, militia, and more. These are still implemented present day.

This is about the extent of my Jefferson history knowledge, hopefully this is enough to help you out!! (I am taking a Political Science class and learned this from it. All real information!)
