The answer is C) They enjoy a close friendship & D) They rely on each other for the sake of survival.

At the beginning we don't see the friendship or the trust in each other, that's because Phillip is very rude and mean to Timothy, but as the time goes by they compliment each other and make a bond where they function as a vital part for the friendship and survival.
