President George Washington was the first to create a Presidential Cabinet, his included four people; Thomas Jefferson (the secretary of state), Alexander Hamilton (the secretary of treasury), Edmund Randolph ( the Attorney General), and Henry Knox (Secretary of War). So the cabinet is just as old as the presidency it's self.
