What initiatives did Ford take to reduce the effects of the arms race during the Cold War?
storchak [24]

The right answer is C: Carter was able to convince Soviet President Brezhnev to reduce arms through the SALT II talks. President Jimmy Carter and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev signed the SALT-II agreement in Vienna in 1979, with the goal of establishing standards and restrictions for the production and use of nuclear weapons, and, although it was respected by both nations, it never took effect - in other words, it remained unconfirmed, unlike the SALT-I treaty, which was signed and ratified by both nations in 1972.

SALT stands for Strategic Arms Limitation Talks.
