Have you ever known a person who is completely unpredictable? I asked my father.

"You," he said, "When I was young, I had a boss who seemed to have two personalities that switched on and off like hot and cold running water, it was always one extreme or the other, his name was Mr. Bunder—I'll never forget him,"

I said to my dad, "Do you want to know something? I'm having exactly the same experience with my boss, Mr. Selland."

"What's the problem?" Dad wanted to know.

"Well, it's kind of funny, he tries to be a nice guy, and he likes to joke, but when his mood turns sour, things become unbelievably difficult. I can't do anything right, and then he complains about some of the silliest and most unimportant things imaginable."

"Wow, that's exactly what Mr. Bunder was like," Dad said, "sometimes Mr. Bunder complained about other employees, and he would expect me to agree with him, even thought he knew they were my friends, then in another minute, he would again, being overly friendly and clever. It was very difficult working with someone unpredictable, I not only had to concentrate on my work, but I also had to be constantly on my guard, trying to predict Mr. Bunder's moods."

"That's exactly the way Mr. Selland is, they must be related," I said.

What's one important thing you learned from the story from Bronx Masquerade? Why did you chose that detail/fact from the story?
boyakko [2]

Bronx Masquerade is a beautiful portrayal of hat Harlem Renaissance stood  for and how it helps one find their own self identity. I chose the part because of how effective it is in conveying its message.

Explanation:

Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes is a wonderful book that delves into a classroom study of Harlem Renaissance, an important movement in African American art that influenced a wide variety of art work in the 20th century.

The novel uses the spoken word poetry form which finds its roots in the Harlem and uses it to lay bare the soul of the reader for themselves.

It is an unbridled exploration of the self and to find the qualities embed in humans.

In a way the book is what it is trying to preach and show which is very important.
