Have you ever known a person who is completely unpredictable? I asked my father.

"You," he said, "When I was young, I had a boss who seemed to have two personalities that switched on and off like hot and cold running water, it was always one extreme or the other, his name was Mr. Bunder—I'll never forget him,"

I said to my dad, "Do you want to know something? I'm having exactly the same experience with my boss, Mr. Selland."

"What's the problem?" Dad wanted to know.

"Well, it's kind of funny, he tries to be a nice guy, and he likes to joke, but when his mood turns sour, things become unbelievably difficult. I can't do anything right, and then he complains about some of the silliest and most unimportant things imaginable."

"Wow, that's exactly what Mr. Bunder was like," Dad said, "sometimes Mr. Bunder complained about other employees, and he would expect me to agree with him, even thought he knew they were my friends, then in another minute, he would again, being overly friendly and clever. It was very difficult working with someone unpredictable, I not only had to concentrate on my work, but I also had to be constantly on my guard, trying to predict Mr. Bunder's moods."

"That's exactly the way Mr. Selland is, they must be related," I said.

In his letter from Birmingham jail, Martin Luther King tried to persuade the audience that his non violence belief is a good move to act against racism and oppression.

1. King directly addresses the audience which shows the clarity in his views and actions. He out across his points making several relative points and people understood them clearly and his letter got a lot of attention.

2. King used many allusions to prove his point. An allusion is used by an author referring something in his work to some historic or literary, or cultural details from outside the work. He took instances from Bible, stating what Jesus had preached. He also referred to Mahatma Gandhi who also believed in non violence and India got Independence. All these allusions are very effective as they convince the audience in proving his point as right.

3. King used his words to inspire people the most. It inspired the African-Americans to fight against the whites for their freedom. He said "We will reach the goal of freedom in Birmingham and all over the nation, because the goal of America is freedom". He also gives them hope that things are on their side and they will achieve their goals.
