Answer:

Answer is Option D: In fact, overuse of technology is contributing to a dangerous decline in fitness and health.

Explanation:

Technology is increasing day by day. It is definitely making our lives easier. Smartphones are one of the greatest discoveries of this technology. It connects people, entertains them and keeps them informed.

But, unrestricted use of these smartphones is taking a toll of the health of the people and there is a decline in fitness and health. The light that is emitted from smartphones can cause eye problems,  headaches and also lead to insomnia. Decrease in activity leads to weight issues as instead of walking to the person and speaking, we text him the message. Overuse of this technology can even cause depression in a person. So, the author is trying to convey in the text "Step away from Smartphones" that we should use smartphones in moderation and not overuse.

Which statement best expresses Emerson’s point-of-view in the sentence?
klasskru [66]

None of the above options show what Emerson meant by the sentence, as the sentence states that an individual, to be a significant man, should be outside the mainstream of thought, being a nonconformist.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • Emerson's sentence is intended to show how people cannot conform to the pattern of thinking established by society.
  • This pattern take away the individuality of people and make all of them conform to a reality that is not satisfactory, but within what is said to be correct.
  • In this case, Emerson reinforces the idea that men should be non-conforming and stay out of the mainstream.

This question is incomplete, but it is possible to find a similar question that shows the sentence we are discussing.

You can see the full question in the figure below.
