The Progressive era was a period of charged political, social, economic and educational reform in the United States which spanned between 1890 - 1930. The key object of this era was to address the problems caused by industrialization, urbanization, political corruption, and massive immigration. This period witnesses widespread activism and reform. For instance, it targeted corrupt politicians and corrupt policies, and ensured that corrupt political representatives were removed from office; it also sought to bring an end to monopoly and promote health trade competition by setting up antitrust laws and policies; the period also saw the promotion of women's right to vote and be voted for otherwise known as the era of liberal feminism/ women suffrage; the educational, medical and finance industry was also not left out in this unyoked progression/disruption.

She despises her red hair and longs for smooth ivory skin and golden hair. She imagines that which displeases her as different than what it is, dreaming up a more perfect world. As she grows older, Anne mellows. Her temper improves, she ceases to hate her looks, she appreciates the simplicity of her life and prefers it to riches, and although her imagination still serves her well, she loves the world as it is.
