Answer:

1. Spondee- two accented syllables.

2. Pyrrhic-  two unaccented syllables.

3. Iambic- one unaccented syllable followed by an accented syllable.

4. Trochaic- one accented syllable followed by an unaccented syllable.

5. Dactylic- first of three syllables accented.

6. Anapestic-  last of three syllables accented.

Explanation:

The six terms or words given in the questions are all poetic meter forms, with difference in their stressed (A) /unstressed styles (a).

1. A Spondee is when there are two stressed or accented syllables in a given line of poetry. The two syllables are right next to each other.

i.e, AA.

2. Pyrrhic is when two unstressed or unaccented syllables are together. It is the exact opposite of a spondee.

ie, aa

3. Iambic is the style where an unstressed syllable is followed by a stressed syllable. This is most common in the poems of Shakespeare.

i.e, aA.

4. Trochaic is when a stressed syllable is followed by an unstressed syllable. Again, this is the opposite of an iambic style.

i.e, Aa.

5. Dactylic is the form where the first syllable is stressed followed by two unstressed syllable.

i.e, Aaa

6. Contrary to dactylic form, this anapestic form have two unstressed syllables followed by a stressed syllable.

i.e, aaA

Which of the following inferences is BEST supported by the details in Beauty and The Beast (story)?
egoroff_w [7]

Answer: The correct answer is B) Beast had secretly put out food for Beauty's father.

Explanation: In the story, the father enters the castle and both dinner and breakfast are served to him without a trace of the Beast. When he picks the rose, the Beast confronts him which leaves me to believe that the Beast was there the whole time and fed him. A) the handsome prince frightened Beast out of the castle. is not correct because the Beast and the prince are the same person. C) Beauty was unhappy living at the farmhouse. does not seem correct because it is never inferred that she was unhappy living at the farmhouse, rather it was her sisters that did not like living at the farmhouse. D) Beauty's father hoped his daughter would marry Beast. does not seem like the correct answer because it is not inferred that Beauty's father wants his daughter to marry the Beast and indeed, seems quite the opposite.

Hope this helps!   :)

What misunderstandings or inaccuracies involving Gothic literature or Poe's use of suspense do you see? How would you suggest el
AVprozaik [17]

Answer and Explanation:

Although "the black cat", like all of Poe's works, is a great example of Gothic literature, we can find some misunderstandings or inaccuracies that may give the wrong impression about this genre of literature.

One of these misunderstandings is the fact that Gothic literature deals only with mental and personal problems of the protagonists. That's because in Poe's work, the protagonist's problems and discomforts are totally related to his mental imbalance, but Gothic literature can open up external problems, which are not, in fact, caused by psychological problems or imbalances of the characters.

Another misunderstanding is predictability. In Poe's work, horror is a strong element, but suspense is a weak element since we know that the character will decay more and more with the passage of the narrative, which weakens the suspense and can generalize it.
